The main congregation (Jamaat) of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr was held peacefully at the Jatiya Eidgah Maidan in the High Court area of the capital. President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tareque Rahman participated in this congregation, which began at 7:30 AM on Thursday.
A large number of devotees from various walks of life, including government ministers, state ministers, Members of Parliament, judges, high-ranking government officials, diplomats, and political figures, attended this grand Eid congregation. After the prayers, special duas (supplications) and munajat (prayers) were offered for the well-being of the nation and its people.
The congregation was led by Mufti Mohammad Abdul Malek, the Khatib (preacher) of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. After performing the obligatory prayers, the Eid sermon (Khutba) was delivered to the worshippers.
The Jatiya Eidgah Maidan was prepared in advance under the supervision of the Dhaka South City Corporation. For the convenience of the worshippers, security, medical services, adequate ablution facilities, and separate prayer areas for female devotees were arranged.
According to the organizers, arrangements were made for approximately 35,000 worshippers, including special provisions for female devotees.
