Desired Bangladesh will Emerge from Everyone’s Responsible Role: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman remarked that a desired Bangladesh can gradually be built if everyone works responsibly from their respective positions. He stated that the current government is working to take the country to a better place.

He made these remarks at a luncheon hosted by ‘Mrityunjayi Pachish’ at Zia Colony in Dhaka Cantonment on Thursday (May 28) afternoon, on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Adha.

Recalling his childhood and various life memories spent in the cantonment, the Prime Minister said that many memories of his life are intertwined with this area. He stated, “As I was coming, it felt like I had gone back almost 45/46 years. The CMH gate, the small pathology lab, the cement benches—everything came back to mind.”

He further added that as a child, he would go to CMH alone when he had a fever, and he still remembers Major Anwar, the staff surgeon from that time.

Tarique Rahman said that in the afternoons, he used to cycle around various areas of the cantonment with his friends. He also reminisced about various places, including Shaheed Moinul Road and the mosque near the signal.

The Prime Minister said, “The place that looks beautiful and tidy today once had a jungle-like environment. Countless memories of my good and bad times, my joys and sorrows, are scattered throughout this entire area.”

He further added, “I grew up here from childhood. I roamed through the soldiers’ barracks and talked with them. That’s why a distinct feeling comes over me whenever I visit here.”

At the end of the event, the Prime Minister exchanged Eid greetings with the military personnel present and inquired about the living conditions and overall well-being of the soldiers residing in the army mess.

During this time, he planted a neem sapling in the army mess compound and signed the visitor’s book. Afterwards, the Prime Minister also exchanged Eid greetings with army officers and members after performing the Dhuhr prayer.
